Sunday, June 3, 2012 - Pungo Ferry Road
We launched from Old Pungo Ferry Road. The old Captain George's Restaurant has all been demolished now. I wonder if something is going to happen on that property soon. Peace Daddy saw us off and took pictures and video.
We went north on the North Landing River and up into the first oxbow. We went into the Nature Conservancy area and up the creek in between the marshes. Saw some big Blue Herons and some Red-winged Blackbirds. It was a little windy most of the way, but we ducked into a creek and came upon a completely still area. On the way back a BIG boat was coming down the river creating a big wake. I rode the wave!
Today was the air show at Oceana for the Patriots Festival. We saw the Blue Angels in the far distance.
Two hours and 13 minutes on the water. 4.7 miles on the GPS.
Great day.
